A teacher in a small town in Canada had students write 10-page - TopicsExpress

A teacher in a small town in Canada had students write 10-page letters to their future selves … 20 years ago. And since retiring, that teacher spends time every year tracking down his former students and delivering those letters. In the small town of Fort Qu’Appelle, 72-year-old Bruce Farrer filed letters away for an amazing 20 years and has spent a lot of time since his 2002 retirement sending the notes back to their authors. The assignment wasn’t just a time-filler, but a real eye-opener. From the age of 14, when the letters were written, to the age of 34, when the letters were delivered, a lot can change. And, not all of that change is good. By reading the words of their 14-year-old selves, the students were reminded of some dreams, imagination, and values that just might have been lost … if not for the diligent work of Mr. Farrer – who considers this just part of the job. https://youtube/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oeX1H7ajOvQ
