A team of officials from Uganda National Bureau of Standards has closed down Ecofresh mineral water factory in Bugolobi in an operation carried out this morning. The standards body says that the company was closed due to poor hygiene that exposes consumers of the company’s water to health risks. Martin Imalingat, the Manager Quality Assurance at Uganda National Bureau of Standards says that the water that is used at the factory has eco-line which can cause diarrhoea and cholera. Over 100 workers have been affected by the closure and police is currently hunting for a group of Chinese investor’s, the proprietors of the company who took off.
