A teenager was punched during an attempted robbery in Bury. At 12.05am on Tuesday 29 July 2014, the 17-year-old was walking along Hazel Avenue, listening to music. As he walked, he was approached from behind by someone who tried to grab his phone. There was a struggle but he managed to wrestle the phone back. He was punched at the back of the head, causing him to fall to the floor and he was repeatedly kicked in the stomach. When the victim looked up, he could see three people running away. The description of one of the offenders is white, of slim build, 6ft tall, in his early to mid 20s, wore dark jogging pants, dark coloured jacket and dark cap. Detective Constable Alison Kay said: “The victim was kicked in the ribs by the offenders, all because he would not hand over his mobile phone. Fortunately, he suffered bruising rather than fracture but has been left shaken. “He could only describe one of the offenders but I would ask anyone who may have been walking or driving in the area at the time to call us. I would also ask those who saw them running away to get in touch.” Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8181 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
