A terrific turnout at the first ever Tasmanian Parliament Garage - TopicsExpress

A terrific turnout at the first ever Tasmanian Parliament Garage Sale which I organised and hosted on Parliament Lawns today! The event was to promote the Garage Sale Trail on Saturday 25 October, which aims to encourage reuse and recycling, reduce landfill and facilitate fundraising through garage sales. With Darryl Nichols, co-founder of the Garage Sale Trail, the Premier and Ken from Ken ‘n’ Barbie who donated his sausage sizzling skills, the Deputy Premier who provided a Darrel Baldock signed football and Minister Hidding who gave two old House of Assembly seats which were snapped up by the Lord Mayor Damon Thomas! All money raised at the garage sale and sausage sizzle today is going to CanTeen to help Tasmanian youth living with cancer, so a very worthy cause close to my heart. Thanks to all MPs and staff who took part, and all the keen buyers from the public who also attended!
