A thread was started about scabs crossing the picket line at Caterpillar that received much attention asking the question of how it can be right for a union to access fines from a member that crossed the picket line. The answer is simple. Because when a member does that they are in essence weakening the resolve of those that are willing to suffer the pains of a strike to make a better world for everyone. In the end Caterpillar and the local reached an agreement. Why should those that crossed the line and stole food out of the mouths of families that were on strike benefit from that settlement? And, FYI the last strike waged by an airline was American Airlines 20 years ago. So unless you can come up with a situation that has happen a little more in recent history this post is nothing more then pot stirring.
