A touching message in my inbox ! Im refraining from announcing the senders name...... Hi, Sorry to disturb this late. I havent slept since I went for Ashwaths funeral yesterday. We hadnt spoken for the past 2 years for whatever reasons. Im gutted. I heard from his friend that he believed I would talk to him after reading his book. I did not know he held me in high regard. He also revealed to him that I was not driven enough to play and lost interest way too early, much to his dismay. He is/was right. This might sound absurd, but this is something I want to do for him. Is there a chance I can play in his place this season. If you think its workable, I will come on Monday to the Nets. You take a call on whether I can still bat and then decide. I will assure you that I will turn up for all 11 matches. I know I have been a difficult person in the past, even with myself. Sometimes I cant fathom the decisions I took when it came to my cricket, and regret it to the day. But I want to do this for him. Do let me know if I can come on Monday. Also could you message me your number. Cheers I owe you an apology.. Better late than never.. Im extremely sorry for letting you down in the past.. Whether it was turning up for practice or matches.. My drive back was only spent reminiscing the past.. And I have screwed up on all counts in the game.. I also havent acknowledged your contributions to cricket.. I guess you have seen the sun rise everyday for the past 15-20 years.. thats exceptional.. Keep at it.. You are an inspiration.
