A tough loss tonight for the Cats, as they drop this one in Whitecourt to the Wolverines by a score of 5-2. The Cats now fall to 23-13-5 on the year, still holding on to 2nd place in the North Division. It would be the Wolverines striking 1st early on in the opening frame giving them a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Cats would open up the scoring in the 2nd period on a Point Gray Power Play, courtesy of Kevin Darrars 12th of the year. The assist going to Austin Yaremchuk. The Wolverines peppered the Cats tender Ryan Ternes throwing 23 shots at him in the period. They would respond with 2 power play goals, and then an even strength marker to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes of play. The Captain Linden Springer would then net his 14th of the year on an absolute beauty of an effort sliding it past the Whitecourt goaltenders five hole. The Wolverines would respond with another to make it a 5-2 for the final. Shots were 40-27 in favour of Whitecourt. The Cats are back in action tomorrow night on the road in Sherwood Park for their last visit against the Crusaders. Puck drop is at 7PM, pre game show on 95.9 Lloyd FM kicks off at 6:45PM.
