A tree was planted upon the earth By the owner of the land Planted in good soil A perfect species of its kind Its first year Only two fruit hung on the tree One was good The other was found to look good on the outside But on the inside Rot was found For the worm had burrowed inside Causing it to decay from the inside out Over the years The tree has spread itself across the face of the earth And year after year The trees produce Some of the fruit drop to the ground Some full of rot Some perfect in every way The farmer walks by And gathers of the good fruit When all the fruit has ripened And ready for picking The farmer will send forth His workers To gather up the good fruit All the good fruit will be gathered Across the face of the earth And taken to the owner of the land To keep for Himself The rotted fruit That lay upon the ground Will be left To be buried in the earth For the worm has taken of the good of the fruit And has left only the rot.
