A tribute to my old Military School roommate Neal G. Bowles His band members created I thought I would share I listened to this song before I knew he was gone for a fact as I thought he was just on a sailing trip and gone in that manner and not actually gone gone And thought it was a pretty good tune He spoke to me recently about taking a sailing trip He wanted to sail his sailboat here to visit me which I thought was a really adventurous idea After we left school We lost contact for many years and about 6 years ago we crossed paths again on Facebook on our school page That Military Boarding Academy was a special place And we created some wonderful lifetime memories and friendships Lol once he and I had a knock down fistfight in the hall one weekend and I cant remember what it was about but I remember we fought a good hard fight with lots of blood all over the walls and floor ...lol I couldnt beat him he had a really solid hard head ..lol He finally got me good and kicked me down the stairs where I had enough And he won the fight and I said I give! .....plus our Captain was coming So we hurried up and stopped our bleeding and changed shirts real fast and cleaned up our blood before our Commanding officers saw it and made us march the flagpole with our weapon which was a 30-06 Springfield rifle That weighed 11 pounds 6 ounces And wasnt much fun for 4 hours on a Saturday as a punishment In our school we werent allowed to fight unless we went in the boxing ring in the gym with a referee and put gloves on to battle out our angers As the years went by my memory became a little fuzzy and forgot about our battle But he refreshed it by calling me and speaking to me for a while and said he had something that had been on his mind all this time He said all these years he had always had that fight on his mind and wanted to apologize for how bad he beat me down He was incredibly strong and I truly was no match in punching power but I was much more agile and faster than he was and got off more hits just not as hard as his He said after that fight he vowed to control his anger He said that fight had changed his life I never knew how much of an impression it made on him as I was used to fighting growing up in New Orleans and it was just a fight to me But he told me Because of our fight he was the person he was today I told him it was ok and it was then a good thing Hum ...... Our life dont last long and can be taking in an instant I hope I dont have to stand in a long checkout line when its time for me to check out But you know what? I havent always been happy constantly all the time like most people know me I have had a day that I wished I was dead for a while when I was younger But as these days go on I see so many wonderful things in this world I am in now that life is precious And it keeps getting better all the time I just wish my happiness and train of thoughts could be spread all over the world But thats only a dream that is not realistic So be grateful for your time on this earth and be kind to everyone Because it does make a difference Peace Neal
