“A true friend freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously, and continues a friend changeably.” (William Penn) Before service this morning, I asked the Lord to speak to me. I was not at my home church since I was am out of town and I had no idea what the Pastor at the church I visited was going to talk about. When the Pastor started to preach the Word. he said lets talk about LOVE!!!!! and began with 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I started to reflect on the message. Since I became a born again Christian, I have taken inventory of my past and realize that I really wasnt a good person in my younger days. If I had a better role model as I was growing up maybe I would not have had treated family members and friends so bad. Without a proper father figure during the most important time of my life I just followed what I saw. I thought at the time, that is how a man is suppose to treat family and friends, especially females. My mother did her best to raise me BUT it was not her job to raise us children, that job belongs to the father as ordained by God. Now, with the guidance of my Heavenly Father, I understand that I cant blame anybody for my actions because I am responsible for my own action once I became of age and I did know the difference between right and wrong back than but I choose to ignore them. To all my family members and friends that I have or even if you felt abandon, taken advantage of or just plan disrespected, I would just like to apologize. I lost a lot of friends and (believe it or not) family members over the years, some by distance, some by death and some because of the way I was, but I can truly say that from my childhood, I can count on both hand the certain family members and friends that when I talk to them, it seems like we never lost a beat. They are the one that I know I dont need to talk to, email, text or Facebook every single day. We dont even have to talk to each other for weeks or months, but when we do, its like we never even stopped talking at all And for that I am truly blessed.
