A truly interesting article on minimum wage. The point of a employee should be able to support a family on 40 hours a week is bogus. The minimum wage jobs are not meant to be careers. The best way to get away from minimum wage jobs is simply improve ones skills not beg the government to raise your pay for the same skill set. If minimum wage does not pay for a family of four then put off having a family until you can afford one. It is not the taxpayer or the businesss responsibility to pay for stupid decisions. There are hundreds of avenues to get training to increase skill sets. Most are low cost or can be financed by grants through organizations. These courses and learning centers are not the overpriced colleges offering non skill curriculums of feel good non employable degrees. These are community colleges, business entities offering specialized skill specific training, these are one and two year programs that enable you to work and take classes. Our countrys problem is the belief of many that the world owes them a living. This is a false reality. The person owes themselves and their present and future family the skill sets needed to gain the income necessary for providing living expenses and raising a family. We who have those skill sets owe you nothing. The government steals from us to support you so you can avoid the effort of learning enhanced skills.
