A truly special day today. Its not often that the stars seem to - TopicsExpress

A truly special day today. Its not often that the stars seem to collide in a number of ways and add historical significance to an event, but today our concert in Hannover touched a number of chords: First, we celebrated the 300th anniversary of the accession of the first Hannovarian monarch to the British throne, George I in 1714. Secondly, we marked 100 years since the start of the First World War. Thirdly, we commemorated 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Fourthly, and finally, we remembered 76 years since Kristallnacht, 9 November 1936. All these event deeply affected British and German people, in many different ways - both positive and negative. Tonight we combined with the Hannover Girls Choir in order to spread a message of peace and harmony through music; Francis Potts wonderful commission, Hands across the Darkness wove musical and poetic themes together to bring unity out of dischord, and we ended with a heartfelt prayer for peace and grace in The Gift to be Simple. Music may not be able to save the world, but in times of reflection it can certainly bring perspective and healing to many. We felt a great deal of emotion and meaning in our concert this evening, and are extremely glad to have had the chance to lend our voices at this time of remembrance.
