A typical convenience store breakfast/snack, which Ive been eating at least once every day during my trip: Onigiri stuffed with salmon, tobiko, and wasabi mayo - NT$28 ($0.88 US) Tea egg - NT$7 ($0.22 US) 500mL bottle grapefruit green tea - NT$19 ($0.59 US) TOTAL - NT$54 ($1.69 US) I can pay for that meal with the smallest denomination of paper money in circulation (NT$100) *and get change back.* This food is tasty, cheap, nutritious, ready-to-eat, and easily available on any street corner. Especially with the food deserts that characterize Americas inner cities, Taiwans 7-Elevens put ours to shame.
