A typical week of a play therapist - many people often wonder what actually happens in my centre. Well take for instance this week, I played many different roles from Batman to Luke skywalker. I wrestled a dragon with two heads and saved a baby turtle from been eaten by a great white ( the great White had a machine gun) I than had to jump out of a plane with a mermaid on my back. This has all been completed by Tuesday, I made many calls to other professionals and I supported many parents on the phone. I sat with parents and listened to joys and worries, I also got to giggle and have lunch with Jennie my wonderful staff member. Each week children walk through my door who have experienced loss, trauma, family conflict and other life events that have had an impact on their lifes. Each week parents/carers bring them and trust in my work. I am very grateful, each day I await a new lesson from a child. My work has also made me the parent I am - good enough ( remember the perfect parent is dangerous ) a little reflection on the week of a play therapist. Smiles
