A vehicle may appear sound and drives well but when subjected to a road worthiness test (commonly known as MOT in UK), may fail because of hidden defects that were not visible to the owner. If those items are not detected and rectified on time, it could potentially result in fatal accident or more costly breakdown, at a time when the service of the vehicle may be most needed. The same could be true of a Christian life that is not regularly scrutinised by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. In His sermon on the mountain, Jesus declared the timeless truth “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13-16). A salt that has lost its taste is like a vehicle that failed road worthiness test. It is still a vehicle, but it is no longer fit for its purpose or intended use. Regular honest self-evaluation and prompt repentance will keep you always fit for God’s purpose.
