A very Merry Christmas! to all my friends who celebrate this holiday with a traditional Italian Christmas song accompanied by zampogna (bagpipes) and ciaramella (shawm). The music of the zampogna and ciaramella duo is actually the classic traditional sound of Christmas throughout southern Italy. In the old days, shepherds would come down from the mountains during the holiday season and play zampogna and ciaramella. Zampogna and ciaramella duos would go caroling door-to-door, an Italian Christmas tradition which was carried on in immigrant Italian neighborhoods here in NYC. Enjoy ;-)
