A very close friend of my family passed away today, very suddenly. She was a close friend of my mom and since they had a 40 year friendship, I knew her most of my life. I will be canceling all my plans and appointments this week; theres a lot to do on our end to prepare for her services. I feel bad for my mom, losing all her friends lately. My mom is still in the hospital recovering from her 2nd round of pneumonia. But we are so grateful to the family that they called so quickly to let us know. They will be sending a car for us in a few weeks so we will be able to attend the services, since it is a half day drive each way there and back. I am sure this will be a few weeks from now, but thats good that I will have time to help my mom write a speech and dig up old photographs, which were already packed in anticipation of our move this Spring - they will be a bear to dig out, but worth it. We will miss Peggy so much. She was an elegant woman, had a great big beautiful family, and was close to 90 years old when she died this morning. I am posting this in tribute to her, and all the things she taught me. She showed me the rewards you get when you take time to think things out in order to make good decisions, when you marry the right person, when you work hard early on so you can retire in comfort later, and how to treat people with respect, but still keep your worth too. She was always so kind to my mom. Her husband of 70 years passed away a few months ago. He was 100 years old. Peggy traveled with my mother around the world often, and I was on some of those trips with them. Otto (her husband) always hated it when she was gone. He would call every day just to check in, and somewhere towards the end of the phone call, I would always hear her reassuring him she would be home soon. I am pretty sure that her passing so suddenly was just him wanting her home. Rest in peace my dear Peggy, and some day you can tell me about the happy relieved look on his face when he was waiting there to greet you in Heaven
