A very good morning to you, on this quiet and peaceful morning from our little paradise in Boggomsbaai. Woke up early to feed the birds, water the garden and indulge in the freshness of this new day. I just realized again how utterly blessed I am to be part of this little village, to be able to hear and see the sea every day and just revel in the lovely surroundings. I do hope that everybody is safe and sound at their holiday destinations and that you are already relaxing after this hard years work. I came across a very interesting little book, edited by a fellow named Tiddy Rowan, about the concept mindfulness. In short, practicing mindfulness is the act of concentrating on your breathing, being aware of your breath and being aware of what is going on around you in the present moment. The more you do it, Rowan says, the more the simplicity of it becomes clear and benefits manifold. It lightens the mind and the spirit. Professor Mark Williams said that it is a form of meditation focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body. Focusing on each breath in this way, allows you to observe your thoughts as they arise in your mind and, little by little, to let go of struggling with them. Now, in this time of resting, relaxing and being on holiday, it may be the perfect time to start practicing the art of mindfulness. Enjoy a lovely Sunday with your loved ones folks.
