A very haggard looking man came in our store today. His hair poorly groomed, his clothes quite dirty, and for lack of a better word he smelled pretty bad. He said he was .30 cents short of getting enough to ride the city bus back to the nearest stop by the shelter in which he sought refuge from time to time. He asked for .30 cents and quickly changed the subject to hide his embarassment. I said whoa..slow down...you need 30 cents? He calmly said yes sir if you have it and began talking again. I had 40 dollars in my wallet in the form of (2) 20 dollar bills. I handed him one of them. He said I think you may be thought this was a single. I said no, its a 20...this should cover the bus and maybe more. He looked at me confused and said but this is a lot, I nodded and said well...i trust youll put it to good use. With the most humble of looks he shook my hand and said you can call me K... and walked off. No matter what youre doing this weekend, remember were all playing for the same team. Do something good for someone else. Fix the world.
