A very informative and joyful presentation! The attendees clapped and called for MORE! Jodi Winnwalker, LCSW, MT-BC, CEO, Earthtones Music Therapy Services, Laura Beer, Ph.D., MT-BC, ACMT, director of the music therapy program at Marylhurst University; Liska McNally, MT-BC, clinical supervisor, Marylhurst University; Jessica Western, MT-BC, vice president, Oregon Association for Music Therapy co- presented at the OHCA conference today! In Music Therapy Roundtable: A Healing Art and Clinical Necessity, these four accredited music therapists spoke to the power of music therapy in service settings. Participants learned how music, a naturally powerful and healing medium, is of clinical necessity in working with treatment needs such as sustaining existing strengths, preserving and enhancing quality of life, non-pharmacological pain management, fostering enjoyment and legacy-building, facilitating positive life review, increasing communication, decreasing aggressive or disruptive behaviors, and increasing socialization. Oregon Health Care Association is a private not-for-profit trade association representing more than 620 nursing homes, assisted living, residential care, senior housing facilities, in-home care agencies and long term care corporate offices, along with close to 200 nationwide business partner members. Members include not-for-profit, proprietary, privately owned, multi-facility and professional partners.
