A very interesting question to ask is exactly when did the studio era begin for The Beatles? The most obvious answer is Sgt. Pepper and this supported by the fact that they didnt tour behind this album at all,in fact George Martin said that it was designed not to be played live on stage. One could also make a good argument for Revolver and this is supported by the fact that although they were still touring when this album was being recorded,it had the distinction of being the 1st album they didnt play one single track from on-stage(although there were rumors that theyd do Yellow Submarine on the US tour). I submit that the studio era actually began with Rubber Soul. Why? Because Rubber Soul was the 1st album that they were able to devote themselves full time to making. Look at all the albums before it,they were basically made whenever the group had the time to do it. With Rubber Soul though, there were no interruptions really of any kind,no concerts,TV appearances, radio shows, tours or anything like that to get in the way. Those are merely my thoughts on this issue.
