A very interesting re-purposing of an abandoned railroad, and a good comparison of standard gauge vs 2 foot gauge. This former GTC line in Portland, ME, was converted into 2 for use as a Maine narrow gauge museum, but the ties were never shortened. Maine was unique in the U.S. in that it had many 2 narrow gauge lines instead of the regular 3. I took this photo in 2006; unfortunately the line has been abandoned yet again and oceanfront development has pushed the museum out. I believe most of the tracks are gone.
