A very proud moment for Langley School Sixth Form Centre & Performance Hall after it wins the Norfolk Association of Architects, Craftsmanship Award 2014. This diploma is to recognise the outstanding standard of craftsmanship that has been achieved and the award was made for: Class B – Non-residential. Dominic Findlay, Headmaster commented “ the school is really pleased with this award, the sixth form students are the ones that have really benefitted from this fantastic building” The £2.5m building was opened in January 2014 and houses comprehensive facilities for sixth form students including a coffee/snack bar, a spacious common room, ICT suites, seminar rooms and resource library. In addition to this there will be a magnificent performance hall which will seat over 500 and will be used for a variety of events including musical and dramatic productions. The building was architecturally designed by Chaplin Farrant Ltd which is an already, award winning architectural practice, based in Norwich and it was built by RG Carters. This new project follows hot on the heels of the large teaching block completed in 2010 which houses impressive ICT suites and a floor of outstanding classrooms. Due to the school site being a Grade I listed, any new buildings are designed sympathetically to complement the existing structures whilst at the same time providing modern state of the art facilities.
