A very sad day for TV Batman fans. Script writer extraordinaire, Lorenzo Semple Jr, died today at 91. He was a very witty and gracious fellow any time I got to meet him. I asked for his autograph and in turn he asked for mine. For those who dont know, he wrote the original pilot for the classic 60s Batman TV series and set the bar for the witty and high camp approach that made the first season so darn good. Besides Batman, he wrote such other notable film screenplays as Flash Gordon (1980). Never Say Never Again, Fathom, Papillon and Three Days of the Condor to name a few. Brilliant writer and class act. He will sorely be missed.
