A very unfortunate AMD A10-6800K processor has managed to break - TopicsExpress

A very unfortunate AMD A10-6800K processor has managed to break the world overclocking record. The chip was stuck on an Asus F2A85-V Pro board, juiced up to 2,008 volts and cooled with copious amounts of liquid nitrogen. The culprit was a Finnish overlocker who likes to call himself The Stilt. The chip first hit 8000.48MHz with a bus clock of 126.99MHz. That wasn’t enough, so The Stig’s Finnish cousin employed a so-called x87 fix, which helped him boost performance in SuperPi. He then gave the chip another go and managed to hit 8203.01MHz, with a bus clock of 130.21MHz and a multiplier of 63. Oddly enough, the voltage was lower than in the first run, “just” 1.968 volts.
