A veteran who was suicidal sends us this message to share anonymously. PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE EVEN THINKING OF SUICIDE. I want to thank my military doctor for saving my life. I am retired USAF enlisted special operations. I have deployed to almost every combat situation since Panama in 1989. Retirement and the lack of deployments and having any relevance in life seemed to strike me a bit. “Normal” work at an office became overwhelming. After going without sleep for what seems like a long period of time, I finally resigned myself an appointment with my doctor. (The night before the appointment I slept like a baby). After confiding with my doctor about my dreams and plans of how to end my life and ensure my family was taken care of with the insurance money promised… he … … listened. He.. Helped. .. I am still here today.. because.. he helped. I plead to anyone else out there fighting any crazy demons…. Take a chance and talk to your doctor.. talk to a chaplain … talk to somebody.. … God has taken care of me and my family and will take care of you as well. Just step up and take a chance to share your … concerns with someone. It takes guts to step up and share your concerns. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It is also THE best move I’ve ever made.
