A video Im sure you all have already seen... Ive just been - TopicsExpress

A video Im sure you all have already seen... Ive just been listening to it again, and a revelation came to me as I look at the picture they chose to use as the thumbnail for it. Its a man wearing a flintlock rifle across his chest, held close to his heart. Of what little you can make out of this person, what do you notice of him? His hands look aged and hard, he seems somewhat overweight judging by the way his clothes are filled out, and he wears what looks like a worn leather apron, and a simple white linen shirt. This man is clearly a Minuteman... he does not wear the uniform of the continental army, yet he bears arms in what is clearly a video about the Revolutionary War. His clothes show that he is a skilled laborer of some sort, most likely a blacksmith. The fact that he is old and fat shows that he does not let his age, or physical condition get in the way. This man essentially represents the middle class. He was probably not particularly rich, but still had a lot to lose by fighting, and could just as easily have decided to stay home and deal with British oppression had he valued his life more highly than his liberty. As silly as it may seem that I actually bothered to analyze this thumbnail, I think what this thumbnail represents is probably the most important message of this video. That while it was the Founding Fathers who framed the Declaration and Constitution for which limited government could be established, it was the farmers, the blacksmiths, the silversmiths, the shepherds, and the most modest of men who stood up and laid down their lives for it. The Minutemen represent the epitome of what it is to be American, and while we here honor their memory and their sacrifices, its a shame that the term Minuteman seems to have fallen from mainstream use. https://youtube/watch?v=uZfRaWAtBVg
