For this LAST DAY Im posting this video of my first (extant) filmed dance improvisation. Many of you have commented on the few seconds of this footage I included in the Hatchfund project video, showing me dancing around the living room at age 6 (with my older siblings in the background completely ignoring my carrying-on - I guess this was not an uncommon occurrence!). Some have noted that my dancing at age 6 looks spookily like my dancing in recent years, and I agree. The video shows me dancing before I started my decades of dance training, which seems significant to me. I think that it’s taken subsequent decades of unlearning much of that training to get me to dance more like this 6-year-old Neil.
