A video that I located on one of my memory sticks while doing research into the fascinating past of the Lipizzaner breed. Here is a video for anyone who has ever wished to see Colonel Podhajsky ride! :) I apologize for the poor quality and lack of sound, Im in the process of trying to locate a higher-quality version with audio. :D However, its still a fascinating look at this great rider. The first stallion the Colonel is riding is Maestoso Alea. The second, gray-maned stallion standing in front of the Quadrille is Conversano Soja, who starred in the movie Miracle of the White Stallions. The actor Robert Taylor was supposed to ride Conversano Soja in the movie during his riding scenes, but was alarmed when the stallion began to incessantly neigh (Col. Podhajsky wrote that this was a strange habit of the intensely curious young stallion). Robert Taylor could not be persuaded to mount the stallion again, and an old longe stallion, very placid, was procured for him to ride during his riding scenes. If you watch closely during the movie, especially the quadrille at the end of the movie, you will see one of the lead horses mysteriously changes his mane color! The stallion with the gray mane is being ridden by Col. Podhajsky while the stallion with the white mane is being ridden by Robert Taylor. :)
