A volunteer writes: Hercules looks more like a bull than a dog. He is big, round, powerful and a bit overweight. His skin has seen better days. He wears a frown that is hard to iron out with treats , sweet talks or caresses. Hercules does not belong to a place like the care center. He is not the type to compromise, bend his head and put up with being kenneled and live amidst so many other dogs. Although neutered, he will show his pride when meeting other dogs and will come reluctantly when called. He is like being with your old granpa. He wants respect and once in a while, he will grant you with a surprise, a gift. That is just what Hercules did...After a good half an hour spent together, he came to me, planted himself across me and put his paw on my lap. He still looked a bit cross but I petted his face and head and he licked my hand. I was glad Hercules and I connected . I am looking to see a little bit more of him and mostly to warm up his heart a little bit more. Hercules is strong but walks quite slowly. He eliminates on the way. Hercules is at the Manhattan Care Center. He seems to be an independent kind of guy who could nevertheless be a great buddy for the owner looking for a calm companion after a heavy day at work. Hercules could benefit from two or three walks a day, good nutrition, plenty of love and should probably be the only pooch in the home. He is a king...
