A volunteer writes: Lucky is a bit of a mystery to me. When one volunteers in an inner city shelter, most large dogs have a Pitie in them but Lucky....has a lot more. A Hound? A spitz? A Husky? A Shepie? Maybe her former owners know as they had Lucky since a tender age. They must know who her papa and her mama were... Lucky was well cared for. She is a bit plump, has a few calluses and a little growth on her back. She has had a litter or two. Her coat has the loveliest markings and feels like silk. She is quite patient in her kennel not loosing track of my wherebouts. We have had already a few outings together. She has puzzled eyes that can become very sweet when she is with a caretaker and very mischievous when she sees a tennis ball. Very little was told about her except that she is well behaved and likes children. Lucky is a good walker. She can walk calmly, trot or run. She looks so carefree, happy to be in company. She can be a little out of breath probably due to her age and the fact that she should be on a diet. She climbs stairs gingerly. Lucky can sit and stay on command and of course for tasty treats...She eliminates on the way and meets other dogs in a very civil way. Lucky is a very good ball player. She stands briefly on her hinds, all excited at the sight of the tennis ball. Who could tell that Lucky is 14? She jumps and runs after it like a young girl... I guess, she got good care in her former home and has good genes... I really like Lucky. She is a feminine elderly lady who does not want to look and act old. She has a lot to offer, fun and love! Lucky is at the Manhattan Care Center. She is so worth to meet and take home as a very good friend.
