A warm welcome to Stewart, an ex-vicar in his forties with a Cambridge degree and seven children, received very recently into the Church. For a man in his position, being received is the easy part. The most demanding part is to let go of the security of a settled career and income and the assurance of accommodation for a large family. And then to set about entering a new world devoid of any familiar networks or support systems, where most of the faces are unfamiliar, disconnected from the world of your past. How to get into the business of applying for jobs in an employment arena where you have to start competing, something probably quite alien to your mentality as a minister of religion? The St Barnabas Society will be a precious support, but Stewart still faces huge challenges. Pray for him.
