A weakening storm system is moving across southern Colorado. This storm has brought some heavy snow to the San Juan Mountains and a few inches to the Sangre de Cristo Range, but little over the mountains farther to the north. On the plains, we have mostly had clouds, some fog and a touch of freezing drizzle. All weather warnings and advisories for southern Colorado will expire early tonight. This storm system will move out of the area tonight and early Wednesday, and we can look forward to a quick return to sunshine and warming temperatures. For Denver, Wednesday will reach 40 degrees, with low 50s on Thursday and upper 50s to near 60 degrees on Friday. The jet stream winds will be shifting to a milder westerly flow aloft for the second half of the week and through next weekend. This should bring a mild and dry period to Colorado with temperatures in the 30s in the mountains and 40s over the western valleys. The next chance for snow will probably hold off until early next week.
