A wealthy Haitian businessman has called on the Martelly administration to break from its three-year record of opening public schools a month late and not making up the class time. Through the sponsorship of a public service announcement, a demand is made to the state to open schools on time this year, in September 2014. The message sponsored by the Erick Jean-Baptiste Foundation also calls citizens to demand their right to education, marking a concern by the private sector of a generation of Haitians insufficient in education and skills to provide a national workforce for the future.
