A weather system entering the Houston area today will bring the potential for heavy rainfall to much of Harris County and the surrounding counties. The National Weather Service forecasts that rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are possible with isolated areas receiving 4-7 inches. The primary threat from this system will be street flooding. According to National Weather Service each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. People are urged to take extra precautions when approaching flood waters.
