A wee message from Tam and myself. Do you know who you are, Scots women and men Cos I certainly don’t, and that hurts me no end, And when I try to explain To the bairns on the way If they ask me what happened? What am I gonna say? It meant nothing to me, I just grew up that way I didn’t learn how to talk Thought I had nothing to say But Im asking you why We cant do something today We have a past to be proud of But we have nothing today I take a look at us all, and what do I see A nation of sadness, staring right back at me People living in squalor, below the poverty line Christ we’ve got to do something, to this country of mines But it means nothing to me, I was brought up that way I never knew that I had Something special to say, but we now have a chance, to do something today And have a past to be proud of, and a future the same I dont speak any gaelic, but of course my english is fine I dont drink like a fish, but im expected to, most of the time I dont wear a kilt, and I dont recite burns everyday But i dont wanna live, in a country thats governed this way! But it means nothing to me, I was brought up that way I never knew that I had Something special to say, but we now have a chance, to do something today And have a past to be proud of, and a future the same
