A week after being in South Dakota, my heart hurts just a little because I miss each of these beautiful individuals that I proudly call my family. The trip reminded me of childhood vacations to visit my many cousins and be on the farm. It made me miss my grandmother, mom, dad and aunt deeply. I saw the strong family ties that my grandmother instilled in us. I was shown that this new chapter in life is about our age group being the leaders in our family. We have been well equipped by these strong women that raised us, for me, my grandmother in particular. I feel so privileged that we were able to spend time with my many cousins. I truly encourage others to visit far away family. It is a joyful memory and Im thankful for the relationships rekindled with each of my 9 loving cousins. Even with burying my aunt, this was the best trip ever.
