A week in the life – in case youre curious ... This aldermanic week seemed like it might be a somewhat typical one, after the pre-Xmas period, which was overfull. If youre interested, this week I spent about 3 hours answering questions for residents (letters, emails and phone calls), visited a resident at their home, had 5 hours of meetings with council officers, attended a briefing and a committee meeting, ran a meeting, and attended three evening events. I also did about 5 hours of reading and research into things like amalgamation, past reports into charging for the Taste and prep for upcoming meetings such as this coming Mondays Development and Environmental Services committee meeting. Most of my meetings entail time for research/preparation. The grooming/logistics involved with attending several different events in one day is also sometimes a juggle. Its getting easier as I go along. Im still on the steep part of my learning curve, so I reckon many things will become second nature soon. Im also back at work now, helping other people with their communications, so Im striving for maximum efficiency. Theres still time to make jam and see friends and get outside, so life is interesting and I have to say, fully engaging at the moment. If you want to get in touch with me for any reason, please do – dont leave me alone because you think Im busy. Especially dont leave me alone if theres something fun happening. If youd like to come to Mondays committee meeting, you can read the agenda here: hobartcity.au/Council/Council_Meetings/Development_and_Environmental_Services_Committee. Its on at 5pm at the Hobart Town Hall. Ask at reception for directions. You dont have to stay for the whole meeting. Pop in if youre curious. You are most welcome.
