A week of directing my young kids play Bird Brain with 12 year olds was invigorating. Things I learned, the young ladies were wonderful and after the first day I cast most of the leading roles with them though all of the boys did try their best. The ladies had more confidence on stage. Also, all the students were from immigrant families from all over the world and responded to the text, the fun of acting and the plot which is that all birds of a feather should live in harmony together. Fun stuff: when asked my horoscope sign, told I had pretty eyes, told I looked like Robert DeNiro as well as when one young lady in her religious dress head to toe glided gracefully across the stage as a sparrow from Queens with a distinct, excellent voice and movement. The last day I answered for an hour and a half about the life of a writer, inspiration and how old I was. :) And of course, they wanted it to be a movie. dramaticpublishing/product_info.php?products_id=2747
