A well-dressed woman standing at the counter to pay at a coffee - TopicsExpress

A well-dressed woman standing at the counter to pay at a coffee shop was rummaging through her bag to find her wallet. Watching her fumble around, a guy behind her in the line took out a $20 bill and gave it to the cashier. He paid for the womans order. This woman didnt say a NO, thanked the stranger, and continued to look through her bag for cards and cash. He said, Its okay. Happy holidays! He didnt make a pass at her. Nothing creepy. He didnt expect anything in return. When it was this kind strangers turn to pay for his own food, the coffee shop employee working the cash register said, This is on us, sir. I turned to the man and said, You started a good thing. Thank you. He smiled. Its after this perceptive stranger left did I realize that some people reach out for help (be it through their clothes or words or actions) and we help them out. We have a perception of what in need of help looks like. But there are people who wont or cant ask for help. Holidays, especially, are hard and lonely for many. We all need to look around and be more mindfully kind. To friends. Family. Strangers in coffee shops and other places. #Mindfulliving
