A while ago, I had written a few articles concerning healthcare. Healthcare has been of some concern for me simply because since 1985, at age 42, I was hospitalized in Phila Pa with the first of 3 consequent myocardial infarctions (heart attacks ) in laymans terms along with other serious health issues requiring additional... hospitalizations......times on and off disability, but continued to be employed, most recently while living in Albion Illinois. At the passage of the Affordable Healthcare Act ( OBama Care ), I was officially notified, that due to healthcare coverage under Medicare, and the recipient of my earned VA medical care benefit, I was exempt from the need to enroll in OBama Care. In January of this year, I was visited by a representative from an authorized Healthcare private provider. The representative also assured me that I was exempt from purchase HOWEVER, should I opt to enroll in what is actually a Medicare supplement plan under the Affordable Healthcare Act , I would not only incur no additional cost for the additional healthcare insurance, but maintain both Medicare and VA in full. Under those conditions, I opted to enroll. The policy and associated drug coverage formulary arrived promptly . Yesterday was a pleasant surprise, providing additional benefit under the Affordable healthcare Act and its Medicare supplemental policy benefits. The additional benefit is an absolutely no cost to join or monthly fees membership in fully equipped fitness gym that also includes indoor swimming and social calendar. There is no specific program assigned, always free to use at will. With the ID card prided, I am now able to make full use of a local gym here in Fayetteville by swiping my ID card into the card reader at the registration desk, enter my pin number and enjoy the facility. I personally consider this as a vital part of preventive medical care aimed at keeping people, ( especially seniors ), active and healthy , not only physically but socially and emotionally especially since I do not attend Senior Centers , most of which have become day programs to house otherwise inactive seniors, although some do have appropriate social calendars ( they have become the exception, not the norm ). Sign up for eh Affordable Healthcare Act as addition to your Medicare ? Im sure glad I was convinced to.
