A while ago, we had our dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was a fellowship among us seminarians and priests. And I thank the Fathers for their kindness and care. We went down since it was getting late already and the crew of the restaurant were already preparing to close. While waiting for a ride, a girl, about seven years of age, poor and dirty, approached us and asked for money. She had not eaten dinner yet and so the kind Father Priest gave her twenty pesos. After getting the money she immediately turned her back without saying anything. I called her attention and told her, "Would you mind saying thank you to Father?". She blatantly replied, "Ay! Thank you. Thank you! Kailangang paulit-ulit, paulit-ulit!" If your in my place, how would you react to that attitude of a child?
