A while back a lovely lady named Chris Johnson invited me to write what I was thankful for ... At the time I wasnt able to do that, so today I can tell you wholeheartedly what I am thankful for. I am thankful that my husband is still here with me and our family and recovering. We have been married for 45 years and I have no idea what I would do without him...I cant even think about it. A couple of weeks ago my husband who is not overweight, & has worked out 3 days a week for as long as I can remember, had a heart attack and was not even aware of it, except that he had pressure in his chest...he kept saying its just pressure, it comes and goes. He kept saying its not a pain. He blamed it on acid reflux and all kinds of things while he tried to figure it out himself. He had just had a physical in July. Our entire family kept trying to get him to go to the Dr., during 2 episodes I wanted to take him to the hospital... He kept say no and telling us that he has no problem when he is working out...it could not be his heart. On the following Tuesday he went to work and started feeling the pressure again...and then a pain down his arm. That day we did go to the hospital. He had a normal EKG...his enzyme levels were not alarmingly elevated. After doing all the testing a great team of cardiologists at St. Vincents Cadiac Hospital came into the room, 7 Drs... (like they knew he would have a fight on their hands... lol) and said...Heart pressure as Tim called it...was heart pain, and even though the test were all normal they were going to do a heart catherization. They told me he would be an hour, but when they went in, they were going to do any procedures necessary. He was in for two hours, so I knew there was trouble. Tim had two major blockages...one 90% and the other 100% ... the said they have never seen anyone actually walk into a hospital in that condition, and only one that was brought in by ambulance, lived after going into cardiac arrest... In the end he had at least one maybe two heart attacks, they put in two stents and he is on heart medications. I stayed at the hospital those 3 days and every dr. ... every nurse ... that came in to see him said he was a miracle. He has some cardiac therapy to do in the next few week but they say he will be 100%. So I am really thankful to all those Dr.s and nurses who took such good care of him...of us... at St. Vincents, but most of all we feel incredibly blessed. We serve a very big God and I am without a doubt positive that it was his plan for Tim to live. So we are singing praises to our heavenly father who is always there and always good. I do hope this also helps some other otherwise healthy person to recognize even the littlest sign of heart trouble. Let your family call 911...listen to your loved ones and take care of yourself. The fact that Tim never smoked and has always worked out, I believe helped him get through this too, so please stay healthy and love yourself
