A whole lot of people have too much time on their hands. While doing the daily crossword, my husband asked why are dots associated with the polka. I went to Google and found pages of sites that answered the question. Really now. Who puts this stuff on the internet? (In case you were wondering, the polka craze was strong in the late 1800s a manufacturers and retailers tried to exploit the popularity by attaching the name polka to a variety of things, even food. The dot pattern was apparently popular at that time, too, so the two were associated.)
