A wild wild idea: If 2% of New Yorkers say I want to turn NY into a communist city, and they would block off 4th, 5th, 6th avenue, and then surround the NY government headquarters, I wonder how the NY public, NY police and in particular the White House would react? Lets assume that they have large support group (even if we assume like HK, say a random number 700,000/5,000,000 voters, roughly 15%), would the police clear the streets? Would they protect the headquarter at all costs? What Washington intervene? if it disrupts schools and businesses and livelihoods? I dont know my politics in the US, what power does the federal govt have on its city to determine the political system? if a city adopts another political system, i presume the right is to be provided by the nation right? or does NY really have a right to choose themselves what system to have? They are presumably still bound by the constitution right? would NY be divided and yell at each other, or would their be respected freedom of speech? if NY police were challenged and insulted, what would happen? would they use tear gas? pepper spray? or just beat the crap out of people? of course this is not a perfect analogy, but just curious how a true democratic country would handle this. Just a crazy idea.
