A woman accused of acting as the getaway driver in a botched armored car robbery has started a crowd source funding drive for her husband who was shot by an armored car guard. Brittney Winston, 26, claims her husband, David Michael Winston, 27, went to a Lakewood Bank of America Monday afternoon and was gunned down in what she claimed as a case of racial profiling. An eyewitness claimed Winston was wearing a disguise and loitering near the banks entrance waiting for an armored car that was pulling up outside the bank. When he was confronted by the Dunbar armored car guard police said Winston pulled a pistol. The guard shot him several times. One shot hit Winston in the head. He was found after being dropped off at St. Josephs Medical Center in Tacoma where he is recovering after surgery for multiple gunshot wounds. On the Fundly website Winston praises her husband as a war veteran and father. A picture on the site shows him in an army uniform kissing the couples child. My husband never returned fire even though he was armed, Winston wrote. He was shot 4 times in his back this was not self defense. This was racial profiling and attempted murder. He is a husband, father, son, brother, good person, INNOCENT VICTIM. The site showed a total of $75 raised from three donors. Winston then goes on to ask for cash to help to stop the lying racist police officers of Lakewood WA. A Lakewood police spokesman said the department would not comment on the site. Brittney Winston is still being sought in connection with the attempted robbery. Police said she drove a stolen car to the bank with her husband, helped him escape from the scene then drove the same car to the hospital and left him at the emergency room before driving away. Information has been forwarded to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorneys office and police said she could be charged as an accomplice in the attempted hold-up. She had not been arrested as of Thursday morning. Heres a link to the story that aired after the robbery on Monday: kirotv/news/news/report-armed-car-robbery-shots-fired-lakewood/nhNGF/
