A woman on my block told my family that they were not American and that they shouldnt celebrate the holiday. We are a Mexican family living in the Lyons community and we treat everyone respectfully. Most of us were born in the U.S. She upset my cousin who serves in the military. She told his children of 6 and 8 years of age to grow up because they were laughing and screaming. She was upset because her dog ran away due to the fire works and blamed it on them. (They were using sparklers) Im not sure if she was racist or just upset about her dog but we didnt mean to be a bother.
