A word about Clean Eating from Amy and Tim... This lifestyle never changes... its about kicking the processed foods, white sugar, white flour, fried foods, high fat AND exchanging it for foods that heal your body. Its so worth the effort and pain to fuel your body like the miraculous machine that it is. Tip: Always read ingredients on food labels. DONT focus on calories. FOCUS on foods that contain ingredients which are good for you! This is why we just do not buy into eliminating fruits and vegetables*... You cant do better than foods closest to their natural state... BUT, you can learn a few tricks of the trade: When we are focused on eating clean, we pair together a serving of a lean protein or a healthy fat with a complex carbohydrate. (This helps to slow down digestion and to make us feel fuller longer. Plus, it keeps our blood sugar stable and steady and our energy levels soaring...not to mention, metabolisms that are fired up!) When we are focused on eating clean, we always eat breakfast ~ eggs and a complex carb, like, oatmeal. When we are focused on eating clean, we drink lots and lots of water throughout the entire day. When we are focused on clean eating, we eat small meals (a small serving of lean protein or healthy fat AND complex carb) every 3-4 hours. When we are focused on clean eating, we limit our starchy complex carbohydrates (ex. 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup brown rice, 1 slice 100% whole grain bread, 1 cup of peas) to no more than 4 servings a day. And, if were really aiming to lean out, only 2 servings of these starchy carbs. When we are focused on clean eating, we drink a low-sugar, high-quality protein shake daily. (We love AdvoCares Muscle Gain Protein Powder. For more information, please check out our site at advocare/09111701) When we are focused on clean eating, we limit caffeine consumption to no more than one cup of coffee a day. When we are focused on clean eating, we limit drinking our calories. (ex. instead of high-sugar, processed orange juice, we eat an orange...and certainly do not drink soda or sweet tea.) When we are focused on clean eating, we limit consumption of artificial sweeteners. When we are focused on clean eating, we must plan in advance what we will eat. (If not, we will fail and give into temptation.) When we are focused on clean eating, we prepare meals and snacks in advance so that we may grab and take them on the go. (Ex. I (Amy) make large servings of our favorite protein bars, cut them up in advance, and place them in individual snack bags. Or, I boil a dozen eggs at a time, peel them, and place 2 in a snack bag for a quick protein boost.) *If you have health issues, such as, diabetes, please talk to your doctor or registered dietician first about what to eat and when to eat it. Heres a great thought to leave you with: Failure occurs because of two reasons ~ 1. Doing things without thinking about them. 2. Thinking about things without doing them. *At IFC, we are about disciplining ourselves to check our thoughts AND to direct them in the excellent places we want them to go! Romans 12:2 - Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what Gods will is. His good, pleasing and perfect will. Hebrews 12:1-3 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders (I think of things, like, guilt, shame, fear, unforgiveness, anger, offense, unbelief and doubt), and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance (and perseverance and persistence) the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men that you may not grow weary and lose heart. Desire to live your best life - fit and healthy - spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally! Were in this together! ~ Amy and Tim
