A word about lobby cards.... Ive purchased a number of vintage LCs over the years. They are typically 11x14 inches in size and most are in color, usually colorized by the studios. The problem is that the images are not always that sharp and the color is often faded, and the cardboard base that LCs are printed on can be discolored by age. And for all this you can pay a fortune (not me, Im a bargain hunter). But I find that by scanning an LC, then running it through Photoshop to freshen up the bright/contrast, cranking back the color saturation, and best of all, sharpen the image, I find the digital version is much better looking than the original. Printing out a digital LC on photo paper yields an excellent 8x10 inch image suitable for framing. I havent tried the next step but I could take the file to kinkos and have them print out as an 11x14. But I found a short cut to acquiring great looking LCs that Ill pass along to you FWIW. You can download high quality LCs (300 dpi) free of charge from auction sites such as Heritage. Once downloaded, I run them through Photoshop as described above. I tend to print out very few but I have been known to post my restored LCs on groups like this one. No, Im not some computer whiz kid, Im 64 yrs old. So If I can figure out how to do this, you can too. Heres an example:
