A word about pets: Does anyone remember, Grisly Adams? A Television show (WAYYYyyyy) back when I was growing up with a cranky, ornery, crotchety old codger & his ass, I mean mule...I dont even remember the old guys name or much about the program, but what made an impression on me, or validated my vision of social interaction was the cantankerous stream of complaints about the animal, his friend, but how his actions, no matter how much suffering or discomfort he himself endured was 4 the best interest & love of the (stupid, worthless, old) beast. (This is my interpretation as a kid & could be skewed by time & my own filter.) So often I observe pets belonging to bored, exaggeratedly loving suburbanites, who, when the rubber meets the road, holds no substance. We dont want 2 be inconvenienced by our elderly parents, special needs kids, or children in general; why would this play out any different when we have a lesser creature but dont even realize our own expectation that it fulfill our hidden needs? I have listened 2 people criticize homeless pet owners (How can they care 4 the animal when they cant even take care of themselves?) & wondered how many of these (by societies standards) wealthy people would give their last mouthful of food when they themselves were hungry? An act that frequently observed in the outcast, untouchable community. As the widow gave her 2 pence in love, most give out of their abundance or 4 the accolades they get (internal or external) 4 doing all the right things, getting the best shots, feeding them the expensive organic food (wtf is that about? Our pets eat better than most of the children in the U.S. let alone the ones in the rest of the world --doesnt that fact concern anyone else?) I cant help but think, a little more b!tching & a little less, fake, self serving, & people pleasing couldnt hurt, could it?!! # Question Everything
